Borrowing Items

All of our libraries stock:

  • Fiction titles (some in large print)
  • Non-fiction titles (some in large print)
  • DVDs
  • Audiobook

How many items can I borrow?

  • You can borrow up to 10 items at a time
  • Members of mobile libraries can borrow up to 30 items

How long can I keep items?

  • Books and talking books can be borrowed for three weeks at no charge
  • DVDs can be borrowed for one week at the current charge
  • You can keep items longer if necessary as long as no-one else has reserved them

Extend your borrowed item

Either:

  • Phone your local library to renew
  • Renew online through the library catalogue
  • Ask in the library

Some material is for reference only and may only be used in the library.

How do I find the books I want?

You can search the library catalogue online. The free library computers have a link to the library catalogue which lists all of the items in our libraries. The library staff can show you how to use it.

What should I read next?

Use our online resources or Library staff can help you decide what to borrow next.

What if I lose my card?

Tell the library staff as soon as possible.

Can you keep a book for me?

Yes - if you can't find what you want on the shelf you can ask us to reserve it for you or reserve it yourself using the library catalogue. There may be a small charge for this service.

Inter library loans

Items which are not in stock can be borrowed from another library. They must have been published more than six months ago and be non-fiction. Please note there is a cost for this service.

If you would like to suggest a book for the library to purchase please complete the stock suggestion form.
