What is an eBook?

An eBook is an electronic book that you can download and read on any devices such as

  • PC or Laptop
  • eReader
  • iPod
  • Smart phone
  • Tablet

What do you need?

To get started  create a BorrowBox account.  Sign up online using a PC/laptop or use the Apple or Android BorrowBox app on your mobile device or tablet.

You will also need:

  • Your library card number and PIN
  • Access to the internet
  • A PC/laptop or suitable portable device

If you do not know your PIN, contact staff at your local Library - please have your libray membership card handy. If you are not a library member find out more about joining.

Borrowing eBooks

You can borrow up to 4 titles at a time for 2 weeks. You can also reserve titles if they are already on loan. At the end of your loan period the loan automatically expires so you do not have to return them. If you use a PC/Laptop you will need to delete the files at the end of the loan period. If you use the BorrowBox app the files will be deleted automatically.

  • Visit the BorrowBox website (PC/laptop only) to see what titles are available
  • Borrow or reserve the title you want to listen to
  • Confirm the loan
  • Download and enjoy

Enjoy your titles on the move

You can also download BorrowBox App to use on mobile devices, smartphones, iPad, tablet etc - both are available from the Google Play Store and the Apple App store. Once installed use 'Live Borders Libraries' as the Library. For more information ask at your local library.
