Exhibition – Sweet Sounds in Wild Places: An Exhibition in Four Acts @ Old Gala House

Free entry – donations welcome

A new exhibition coming to Old Gala House in mid 2023!

A showcase of original work created by a group of women from the Scottish Borders, as part of a creative skills-building project with Scottish Opera. The project, delivered through a series of workshops, invited creative responses – in the form of music, poetry, song writing and visual arts – to Sir Walter Scott’s tragic love story The Bride of Lammermuir and formed part of the 250th anniversary celebrations of Scott’s birth.

The Sweet Sounds in Wild Places project was established in response to a report which revealed the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on women’s mental health. It aimed to encourage each woman to reflect on their lives, to encourage the sharing of hopes and ambitions, as well finding an outlet for self-expression through the arts.
