Scottish Borders Newspapers 1914-1918

A digital newspaper resource covering news from the Great War period, 1914-1918 from the following local newspapers :

  • Berwickshire Advertiser
  • Kelso Chronicle
  • Peeblesshire Advertiser
  • Southern Reporter

These contain a wealth of information on the contribution made by the people of the Scottish Borders. They provide a valuable insight into the sacrifices made by local soldiers and the role of local people and industries at home in support of the war effort.

Using the resource
Research your ancestors and discover the part they played in the war. Search through:

  • enlistment notices
  • letters from the front line
  • local fundraising efforts

You can search through the resource by year, newspaper title and specific date. You can also add keywords into a searchable feature (File Locator Lite) which lets you locate particular articles of interest.
