Library Services to Schools

Providing services to children, young people and schools

Our school's library service is based at Library Headquarters. We provide collections of resources to support the curriculum tailored to individual requests from primary school teachers.

The project loan collection provides a service to primary schools:

  • Teachers can request a box of resources to support the Curriculum
  • Resources covering a wide range of topics are held, including collections to support eco-schools, Foreign languages and Early Years
  • Boxes are delivered and collected by the service wherever possible at the beginning and end of each term, although this cannot be guaranteed.

The School Library Services collections including picture and story books, are also available for:

  • Nurseries
  • Playgroups
  • Parents as Early Education Partners groups
  • Pre-school groups.

Staff are happy to advise on primary school library and reader development.
Each secondary school has a school library resource centre run by a professional librarian, which serves the school community.

We hold a variety of non-fiction resources to support the Curriculum.  We try to tailor each box to the individual request however if a subject is popular or obscure resources will be limited.
