Peebles Swimming Pool Temporary Closure

Essential improvement works are scheduled to take place at Peebles Swimming Pool.  We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience these essential works may cause.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we complete this work and look forward to welcoming our customers back to the swimming pool soon.

The poolside windows, which are currently in a state of disrepair, will be completely replaced giving the building a refreshed, welcoming appearance. As a result, the pool will be closed from Monday 28 August for three weeks. The pool is provisionally scheduled to reopen on Monday 18 September.

  • Live Borders members who are affected will have their end of September direct debit amended to reflect the reduction in opening hours and lessons.
  • Customers with a Live Borders swimming membership are also being made aware that they can still access the five other public pools run by Live Borders as part of their membership. Find out about our other pools on our swimming pool page.

Unfortunately, it is estimated that this essential works will take three weeks to complete and Peebles Swimming Pool will be closed for the duration. Pool users will notice a significant improvement in warmth at the poolside for a more enjoyable experience once the work is completed. The work will also improve the building’s energy efficiency through reduced drafts and better performing glazing.

These are the original windows from when the pool opened in 1984.  The woodwork around the windows is rotten and they are potentially dangerous. The improvements must take place as soon as possible.  The work to the windows cannot take place during inclement weather – pushing further into Autumn/Winter would increase the risk of delays.
