COMPETITION RULES

1. Submitted entries must be entirely the work of the entrant.
2. The judges’ decisions will be final and no individual correspondence can be entered into.
3. The closing date for entries is 31 October 2018 5pm.  Late submissions will not be accepted and we are unable to return entries.  No feedback or correspondence will be entered into. 
4. The winning entrants will be contacted by Creative and Connected Communities, Live Borders following the judging process by the Eildon Tree Editors.  If we are unable to contact the winners within a reasonable period of time the prize offer will be withdrawn.
5. The winners will be announced by 15 December 2018 and will each receive an invitation to a prize giving event in Spring 2019.
6. The winners may be required to take part in publicity for the competition. We will request adult consent for young people under the age of 16.
7. Personal information supplied to Live Borders will only be used for the purposes of this competition
8. The names of all prize winners will be made available on request subject to adult consent for young people under the age of 16 yrs old. 
9. Entrants retain the copyright of their entries but grant to Creative and Connected Communities, Live Borders a perpetual non-exclusive royalty-free licence to publish, broadcast (across all media) and post the entry online and on any other platforms yet to be envisaged. This licence will be deemed to include all the necessary rights and permissions to enable use by Creative and Connected Communities, Live Borders, and reproduction in the next issue of Eildon Tree.


HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY

The competition is open in two categories:

Adult Open Competition – open to residents across Scotland with a maximum of four entries either poems or short stories or an extract from a work of fiction up to 3,000 words.

Junior competition, 5 – 18 years old, resident in Scottish Borders.
Short stories must not exceed 500 words and poems must not exceed 20 lines.

The following information should be supplied with all entries:
• Name
• Address
• Age
• Contact Tel. no / email address
• Payment of £5 per entry for adult entries. Payment can be made by cheque, payable to Live Borders or by cash in person at local libraries.
