Bookbug at Heart of Hawick

Overview

We are so excited to bring back face to face Bookbug sessions in our venue, Tower Mill, Heart of Hawick hosted by a member of the Live Borders Library Team. This is part of a phased approach to re-starting our much loved Bookbug sessions.

Sessions will take place every Thursday from 24 June until 19 August from 11:00 – 11:30, pre-booking is essential. To book please click HERE.

For children aged 0-5 and parents/carers.
If you have attended a Bookbug session before, then things might look a little bit different, however there will still be lots of fun, laughter, rhymes and stories. If you are your little one/s are new to Bookbug, then help and support is available from our friendly Bookbug Session Leader and there is lots of information on the Scottish Book Trust’s website about getting started with Bookbug. In line with Scottish Government Guidance and our Covid-19 Health and Safety Risk Assessment, we have to limit the numbers to 10 adults per session. It is essential that you book beforehand  so we can manage attendance numbers and collect Test and Protect contact details. Each session is currently limited to 10 adults.

Our aim is to make spaces available for everyone who wants to attend so we may run additional sessions if there is sufficient demand.
Areas will be marked out on the floor where adults can sit or stand to help ensure that we maintain social distancing. Your little one/s are free to move about as children under the age of 11 years old do not need to socially distance. Whilst singing indoors is not currently allowed, we will be rhyming and telling stories during our sessions, if your child starts to sing, that that is OK, they don’t need to be discouraged as part of the Scottish Government’s Coronavirus guidance.

Hand sanitiser will be available on arrival and when the session ends, whilst attending a session we ask all parent’s/carers to follow good hygiene practice. Parents’/carers will be asked to wear masks at the beginning and end of the session. Please do not attend a session if you are displaying coronavirus symptoms

We are following guidance in line with the Scottish and the Scottish Book Trust Guidance on restarting of Bookbug Sessions:
