Overview

We cannot underestimate the value of trees in our world. When one sees an aerial view of a rain forest we see the breathing lungs of our planet. In so many ways Trees are our most important Eco-warriors and our physical need for them has never been greater. Humanity is responsible for so many of our planet’s ills and it is time to try to redress the balance. I believe the world has woken up to its responsibilities.
“I have found my light. It was hiding under a bushel”. My exhibition will combine a collection of mixed media paintings and a series of digital portraits.
I paint using a mix of oil and cold wax, which I mix myself using natural resins and beeswax combined with highly pigmented oil paint.
I begin a painting by underpainting, sometimes in acrylic, watercolour, or ink and then layer several times in oil using many colours and texture. During each layer I cut back and expose a previous layer. When the painting is complete it exposes the history of its creation.
Where my paintings come from an ancient process my digital portraits are absolutely of the moment.
I begin with a photograph of a person, or animal, and I digitally enhance, change and alter the photo into a different image.
I then print the image thereby creating a personalised portrait which dramatically cuts costs for the person who wishes to commission a portrait.
