We know how much you have missed having a book in your hands, and of course, we appreciate that you may have some books to return to us.
This service lets you order books through the Live Borders Libraries Online Catalogue, or over the phone, and then pick them up from our various pick-up points. It has always been free to join our library and we won’t be charging you to make a reservation.
In order to make a reservation either online or over the phone, you will need your library login details. If you are not a member of our libraries, CLICK HERE to sign up, it’s free and easy to join us.
How it works
Our library staff love books and know our catalogue inside out, and for this service, you can make your reservation over the phone if you don’t have access to a computer or smartphone.
To order books over the phone, simply call our Library HQ on 01750 726400 and you will get through to a member of our team, lines are open Monday to Friday 11:00 to 15:00.
Before you call, have a think about what kind of books you like to read, and have your membership card or membership number handy as you’ll need this.
When you have made your choices your librarian will let you know the details of how to collect your books when they are ready.
We will send you an email to let you know when your books are available to collect from our pick-up points. We will include a link in the email with information on where our various pick-up points will be for the coming weeks. If you ordered your books over the phone, you should get a call back with this information.

When you get to our Connect & Collect pick-up point, you’ll see that our friendly staff will have set up a table for all the books that are to be collected on that day. Your books will be in a bag with your name and postcode on it. Just pick up your books and head off – this means that we can all follow social distancing and keep contact to a minimum.
If you have books to return to us, bring them along and just pop them into our Returns Box – we’ll update your records once the books have been taken back to our Library HQ.
Connect & Collect is a new way for us to get our books back out to you – but remember that our digital library includes eBooks and eAudiobooksare available via Borrow Box – the app make it simple to get books and stories onto your phone, kindle fire, tablet or computer
