Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre: Nestled in the Ancrum countryside in the heart of the Scottish Borders, Harestanes is the perfect place to unwind and explore the Teviot Valley. Whether taking in the scenery on one of our walks, savouring a home-baked treat in our café, indulging in a little retail therapy or running around our play park – Harestanes offers something for everyone. Heart of Hawick: Perfect for those dreich Scottish days, Heart of Hawick has you covered whatever the weather, with its cinema hosting an exciting assortment of live music, films, exhibitions and other events each month. Our café bar offers the perfect accompaniment to your entertainment, from locally-roasted coffee to gourmet hot dogs and cinema treats. Jedburgh Jail Castle and Museum: This attraction looks like a grand castle, but inside is a different story! Visit the cell blocks of the 1820s jail and discover what life was like for prisoners and staff in what was a model prison in its day. The building is also home to Jedburgh’s town museum, exploring the traditions, industries and the lives of famous people of the town. Lot’s of children’s activities make this a fun family day out. Find out more here.
Teviotdale Leisure Centre: Located in Hawick, Teviotdale is the flagship health and fitness centre in the Scottish Borders. It has upgraded gym facilities, a brand new fitness studio and class timetable, but it is also home to Treasure Land Soft Play; a purpose-built, pirate-themed soft play that your kids will just love! With slides, rope bridges, sensory areas and a dedicated toddlers’ area, it offers hours of fun for little pirates 12 and under (see a video tour here). The centre’s busy café has been modernised and gives people the perfect space to relax and have a bite to eat after a swim, fitness session or while the kids are enjoying the exciting new soft play.
These are just some of our many venues to get you started, but be sure to browse our website for more ideas of fun-filled family activities. Make sure you also take a look at our list of libraries and swimming pools throughout the Scottish Borders to keep the kids entertained.
