Saving & Sharing Poetry Competition Entries
We were overwhelmed with the amount of moving entries submitted for our poetry competition.
Our three winning entries were:
I remember...Yes, but do you? By Toni Parks, Ronald, By Robert Leach and Bob Mercer, By Thomas Clark.
There were so many fantastic entries we have to give thoroughly commend everyone for their entries, these include: A Souter’s Return, By Rachel Wilson, Accept, By Stuart Jones, All these fine fellows, By Sara Clark, Armistice Day, By Philip Bethune Hutton, Benedictus, By Norma Brown, From a mother’s eye, By Jenny Anderson, Guests, By Rosemary Lee, Gunner 144250, By Gillian Chapman, A school visit to the WWI battlefields, By Thomas Kerr, Ne Oublie (do not forget), By Glen Livet (penname), Play aye for me the pipes, By Brian Currie, Requiem for a lost generation, By Thomas Douglas, The photograph, By Susan Cook, The price of war, By Maurice Hallam
We also have a lovely poem by Stuart Jones, which although not a competition entry, captures the sentiment of the project perfectly.
You can listen to all of the entries using the SoundCloud interface below, where all poems are listed as separate tracks. Where possible we have recorded the poet reading their own work. Many thanks to the young people who agreed to read the remaining poems. These are also available as downloads in the pane to the right.
