Four times the family fun with Hawick museums

Four fabulously different entertainment events will be taking place in Hawick’s Wilton Lodge Park to amuse children and families over the summer.

A diverse programme of events has been coordinated jointly by Live Borders’ Hawick Museum & Wilton Lodge events team who have arranged for people to be captivated by everything from renowned medieval Knights, Les Amis d’Onno, to Rowanbank, the magical troupe of faery wood folk.

Shona Sinclair, curator, Live Borders, commented: “We have been able to bring these fun, family activities outside so people can enjoy the lovely surroundings of the park.
“I hope that people of all ages will come along and take part. Thanks to the Wilton Lodge Park Regeneration Project.”

The events programme has something for everybody. The popular Zoolab will be visiting again to offer everyone the chance to handle little creepy creatures and small animals such as snakes and tarantulas, while at the park’s bandstand community sports and arts groups will offer the chance to try out a range of sporting and craft activities.

Ewan Jackson, chief executive, Live Borders commented: “It’s great to see such a diverse range of projects coming together to make the summer holidays exciting for families.
“The Live Borders team have really enjoyed coordinating this programme and we cannot wait to welcome people along.”

All four events offer a mix of entertaining activities suitable for all ages -  from crafts and storytelling to sports and sword fighting demonstrations.
