Free Sporting Taster Session for Selkirk Community
Greig Shortreed, our Club Development Officer said: “This is a brilliant idea from Selkirk Community Sports Hub. Clubs in the local area have been discussing ways to try and bring in new members plus give the community the chance to try out different activities. Their decision to host this free fun day combines both elements and we hope that lots of people will attend.”
Our team at Selkirk Leisure Centre will take the two canoeing sessions on offer for both children and adults from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Also on offer, throughout the morning, Ettrick Forrest Archers will demonstrate the key elements of shooting with bow and arrows, Selkirk Cricket Club will showcase batting skills, Selkirk Canoe Club will introduce the excitement and techniques of paddling and Selkirk Bowling Club will help participants develop the perfect bowling action. These sessions will be held at Selkirk Cricket Club from 9.30am – 12.30am.
Ewan Jackson, Chief Executive of Borders Sport and Leisure added: “This is what the Community Sports Hubs are all about, clubs working together for the good of each other and the local area. There is a great range of very different sports on offer at this fun day so I am sure everyone who attends will find something that they enjoy and that they will hopefully choose to continue to take part in going forward.”
