Let the adventure begin!
Treasure trove of activities unveiled at TLC
‘Treasure Land’ the new multi-level pirate themed soft play at Teviotdale Leisure Centre has open its doors for the first time on Monday, 11 June.
Offering hours of fun for little pirates, the three-level soft play has been developed on the centre’s old squash courts and is completed with slides, tunnels, rope nets, lighten caves and an enticing ball pit to explore.
First through the door was a very excited Robbie Beattie, almost two, and following his adventure was mum Laura who told us:
“It was really good fun! Robbie loved the ball pit and the wee blue slide while the little educational additions on the way around are just great.
“The soft play is great for all ages and really good for Hawick and we will definitely be back soon.”
Stacey Forsyth, Child Care Manager from Cherrytrees Nursery, took a group of 12 four to nine year-olds along to test out the new facility and was also impressed with what she saw.
“There is a lot of equipment to suit all different age groups” she said.
“All our kids today were thoroughly entertained and we had a wide age range so if we can keep everyone happy at the same time that’s a bonus.”
Stacey’s daughter Naomi, age nine, added: “It was really good because there were a lot of choices and you could pick what you wanted to do.”
The soft play, open 09:00-18:00 Monday – Friday and 08:00-16:00 Saturday/Sunday, is part of a major facelift for TLC which began with the reopening of the Flume back in January followed by a raft of improvements which are expected to be fully completed in the coming months.
Overseeing the project is Live Borders Area Manager, Scott Weir, who was present at the Treasure Land opening on Monday.
“Upgrading the soft play area was one of the most complex parts of the TLC redevelopment but also one of the most rewarding.
“Like all projects of this size there has been a few snags along the way and I would like to thank the people of Hawick for their patience. Seeing everyone enjoying themselves on the new equipment today has made it worthwhile.”
For the more enthusiastic pirates, direct debit memberships to join the pirate crew will be available (see link below) as well as casual visit prices.
The new fitness studio will open on Monday, June 18 while the current gym is also in line for a refresh in the near future.
