Supporting ambition in culture and heritage

Local charity Live Borders are introducing a new training and support programme for organisations and individuals in the Scottish Borders, aimed at enhancing skills and encouraging ambition.

The Capacity Building Programme - Culture and Heritage, is a key element of the Place Partnership plan developed by Creative Scotland, Scottish Borders Council and Live Borders.

Place Partnership is about supporting and strengthening the creative industries, artistic practices and cultural sector - making the sector more sustainable.

The Capacity Building Programme will run twice in 2017, over eight week blocks, with the first Programme starting on January 20. The weekly sessions are 3 hours long, apart from one of the sessions (Introduction to Sponsorship), which is a whole day.

The free Programme, delivered by Business Gateway and Arts & Business Scotland,

will cover: Business Planning, Finance, Marketing, Sponsorship and The Role of the Board in Fundraising.

The Programme is open to individuals and organisations working in the culture/heritage sectors based in the Borders and aims to: Enhance individual and organisational skills sets and encourage ambition so that participants are better placed to develop, and grow, their practices and businesses in a sustainable way.  This is particularly important in the context of a challenging climate for public funding, but also recognises the opportunities of new and emerging ways of working across art forms and sectors.

Ewan Jackson, Chief Executive Live Borders, said: “The Capacity Building Programme will be a great networking opportunity offering a chance to share and exchange knowledge with other individuals and organisations within the cultural and heritage sector throughout.”
