The 21-day myth and how to power through

“It only takes 21 days to form a good habit.”

While we agree you can achieve a lot in 21 days, enjoying a 3 week holiday, redecorating the living room, watching all 6 seasons of Game of Thrones. Can you actually change your health and wellbeing in that time?

We’ll start with the good news, 21 days is a great start… and we all know how hard we work in the gym for the first few weeks, spinning, lifting and ‘kettlercising’ like there is no tomorrow.

The ‘bad –ish’ news is that it is just that, the start of something. The tougher part comes into play after our honeymoon period when the rainy days seem like hard work in themselves and one night in front of the TV has the potential to turn into a week long haven.

Don’t worry though, there’s more good news to come. If you can stay the course for 60 days, the chances of you achieving your goals and permanently changing your habits are dramatically increased? This is even further increased with the comradery and support of friends, family and fellow fitness fanatics (new and old).

For the past 2 weeks, we’ve been encouraging our new and loyal customers to make a pledge, and commit to achieving it over a 60 day period. Their goals have been as different and unique as they are, with some people wanting to SHAPE up and lose weight and others wanting to GAIN muscle.

We’ve already seen some fantastic efforts from lots of people already, and we just wanted to let you know that if and when you hit a bump on the road, speak to us and we’ll do everything we can to keep you going.

We can always look at your gym programme again, perhaps there’s a quicker way to burn that fat that’s higher intensity? You could even take advantage of our Small Group Training Sessions, the perfect balance between personal training and a fitness class! These are free for One Club members. No matter what you need to keep you going, your Health and Fitness Advisors are always happy to get to know you better and help you in any way they can.
