VOMO (Voice Of My Own) offers young people the opportunity to make TV programmes using live vision mixing, multi-camera shooting, autocue and virtual studio sets.

The young participants produce a weekly news bulletin which is streamed on www.vomo.tv

  • Regional reports
  • Music sessions recorded on location
  • Pilot programmes including a comedy show, a soap opera, a chat show, book programmes and an arts review

Every news bulletin is hosted and prepared by a team of young participants, from across the Scottish Borders. This gives them an opportunity to learn helpful skills relating to reporting, interviewing and making TV programmes.

VOMO offers young people the chance to express themselves through cutting edge TV technology. They will benefit from:

  • Building transferable skills
  • Creating compelling content which they can then add to their portfolio and CV

The process is based on shooting videos with mobile phones and tablets as well as cameras, and streaming online rather than the old cinematic approach – although there is still an opportunity to make short films too and show them on VOMO TV. The emphasis is on confident fast turnaround, with ‘as live’ vision mixing replacing much of the laborious editing process.

VOMO is funded by:

  • Time to Shine
  • Cashback for Creativity
  • Creative Scotland
