A visual and sonic exploration of seeds in nature and imagination’

An exhibition exploring the natural and imaginative world of seeds, presenting a range of works in diverse media from four artists each captivated by traces, transience and macro worlds.

From the immaterial seed of an idea or transformations of windborne and waterborne life cycles to the physicality of the pod and pollination of seeds, Pod is a collection of work exploring seeds as both forms and processes sparking reflection around fertility, incubation, growth and sustainability – expressed through a range of visual and sonic approaches to materials.

Taking inspiration from the historic context and qualities of Halliwell House, materials of metal, sound, canvas, straw, stitch, plants, print and photography have been worked with on differing scales. Sculpted textiles, silver jewellery pieces, sonic diagrams, tableaux photographs and gatherings of plants inspired by differing patterns in nature all sit within an atmosphere of aeolian sounds, paying homage to seed as a universal symbol that resonates across life and cultures past and present.

Meet the Artists and Performance event: Saturday 11th October, 2-4pm.
