Reading groups for all

Come join our Readers Groups – In Person, On the Go or Online – the choice is yours!

We are pleased to be able to offer our members the opportunity to join one of our readers groups. These are informal groups that meet to discuss recently read titles, and new members are always welcome!

Please see details below of the reading groups that are currently running, for more information or to book call Galashiels Library telephone 01896 664170 or email libgalashiels@liveborders1.org.uk

Or how about starting up your own Readers group?  For the digital users amongst us we select one title per month which has unlimited loans for both eAudio and eBook – the unlimited titles are listed at the top of our Borrowbox page.  For those who prefer the feeling of a real book we have a selection of titles with around 12 copies available on request, listed HERE

Online Readers Groups

Our Online Reading Groups meet once a month and with two types of groups for you to choose from all you need to do is pick your favourite!

Download and read the monthly selected title then meet and discuss – members will require an eLibrary membership and access to Borrowbox

Read Your Own Readers Group
Members will come together to discuss their current read whether it be fiction, non-fiction, a magazine article or even a play. The group offers the opportunity to learn about different authors and broaden your own reading horizons. Members are given the chance to evaluate and share what they have been reading with the rest of the group.

The reading groups can accommodate 10 people and run on the first Monday of every month:

The Walk and Talk book group is not your usual book group. Meetings start with a walk in the local area and then head back to the Library to discuss the book of the month. At each meeting group members will receive a new title to read for discussion at the next monthly meeting.  Please see below for details of when the walks will take place.
