Forgotten Fleece Tales – A Scottish Touring Exhibition of Textile Arts
Forgotten Fleece Tales is a celebration of the space where art, craft, story and ecology come together. The exhibition features a curated collection of works from Scottish artists, made using “waste” or “unwanted” Scottish fleece, and byproducts of industrial fleece processing.
Showcasing a combination of wearables, wall hangings, home textiles, sculptural pieces and interactive experiences, Forgotten Fleece Tales provides an immersive and in-depth exploration of the enduring value of Scottish fleece, from its heritage to hopes for a sustainable future.
These themes are further drawn out by a series of short stories, corresponding to each artwork, adding new dimensions to each piece and exploring wool’s gifts of warmth, comfort, nostalgia and connection.
Forgotten Fleece Tales aims to engage visitors with multisensory experiences, challenging them to honour the unique place of wool in our history, and to reframe it as a sustainable and versatile material for our future.
