Two legendary musicians from the Britpop era are coming to the Borders for intimate live shows packed with music and stories from their rock and roll years.
John Power, fresh from supporting Oasis with his band Cast, is coming to Kelso Tait Hall and Ocean Colour Scene’s Steve Cradock will visit Melrose Corn Exchange as part of their UK solo tours.
Both musicians will be playing and singing hits from their extensive back catalogues and reflecting on their journeys from the late 80’s to the present. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for both shows where fans can meet the stars, get autographs and photos plus tour merchandise.
John Power had the best rock’n’roll apprenticeship ever – playing bass as an 18-year-old in The La’s. Forming Cast in 1991, he sang, wrote songs, and played guitar for one of Britpop’s pre-eminent bands – securing two platinum-selling records before returning to the charts in 2024 with the magnificent Love Is the Call. Power’s solo career produced some of his best work – and now it’s time to reflect on Britpop, the hits – Alright, Sandstorm, Walkaway, Flying and more.
Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock is responsible for some of the most distinctive riffs of the past 30 years. The man who gave us signature riffs ignited The Riverboat Song and Hundred Mile High and helped propel OCS to double-platinum glory with Moseley Shoals has been a mainstay of British rock since forming Ocean Colour Scene in 1989. OCS played record breaking gigs with Oasis at Knebworth for 250,000 people as Britpop reached its zenith in 1996. He joined Paul Weller’s band in 1992 and has appeared on all of his studio albums, while also joining The Specials in 2014. In his debut tour.
