Live Borders Triathlon Series Concludes with Record Participation and Community Spirit

The 2026 Live Borders Triathlon Series has come to a successful close, bringing together athletes of all ages, dedicated volunteers, staff and supporters for another memorable season of competition across the Scottish Borders.

A remarkable 88 competitors, ranging in age from 7 to 77 years old, took part in this year’s series, showcasing the inclusive nature of the sport and the determination of participants from all walks of life.

Collectively, competitors achieved some incredible milestones throughout the series. Together they swam a staggering 14,364 lengths, cycled 7,490 kilometres, and ran 2,033 kilometres, demonstrating the commitment and endurance required to complete the series.

The popularity of the event extended far beyond the Borders, with participants travelling from across the UK and beyond to take part. The most distant competitors journeyed all the way from Sweden to compete.

Delivering an event of this scale would not have been possible without the support of a dedicated team of staff and volunteers. A total of 47 Live Borders staff members played a role in organising and delivering the series, supported by volunteers from Galashiels Amateur Swimming Club, Selkirk Musical Theatre Company, Selkirk Scout Group, We Tri Triathlon Club, and several local councillors who generously gave their time to help ensure each event ran smoothly and safely.

Special thanks are extended to Richard Platt, who handcrafted all 57 trophies presented throughout the series. Adding a unique local connection, the trophies were created using wood reclaimed from the beams of the former Galashiels Swimming Pool, preserving a piece of local sporting history and giving each award a special significance.

Live Borders would also like to thank Emma and the team at Print X for producing the event t-shirts worn throughout the series.

The success of the 2026 Live Borders Triathlon Series reflects not only the dedication of the athletes who took part, but also the incredible community spirit shown by staff, volunteers, sponsors and supporters. From first-time competitors to seasoned triathletes, everyone contributed to making the series a welcoming, enjoyable and inspiring experience.

Congratulations to all competitors, volunteers and supporters who helped make this year’s series such a resounding success.
