Introduction to the art of Japanese mending
The ancient Japanese technique of repairing and mending worn clothing and textiles is known as Boro. Boro has become popular over recent years, with changing tastes, the emergence of visible mending as a fashion trend and the desire to re-use and re-cycle garments and materials.
At this workshop Pat will introduce you to the history of Boro and using a selection of vintage materials you will learn how to use the Boro style technique to create your own piece of work. The very act of simple stitching on beautiful fabrics can in itself be a peaceful and meditative process.
