Peebles Railways

Peebles Railways

Peebles was markedly a quiet place until the building of the railway. And not just one! Peebles has had three railway stations, bringing visitors to the town and promoting ‘Peebles for Pleasure’.  Sadly none of these stations exist although traces can still be found.

This exhibition paths the cutting of the first turf of the railway to Edinburgh, to the lines East and West of the town and the huge impact it had on the cloth manufacturing in the Tweed Valley.

Displaying new photographs, objects and models, we plan a series of events to celebrate our railway heritage.

Peebles Railways

This popular exhibition is having an extended run and will now be open until 3pm on Tuesday 28th October. We will close to host part of the Tweed River Festival 31st October to Monday 2nd November.

Peebles Railways will reopen on Tuesday 4th November and run until the end of the year.

Informal gallery chats about the railways will run every Tuesday at 2pm with Eric & Chris – just drop in!
