Hawick’s Flume Reopens this September

Friday 21st August 2026

Residents across the Scottish Borders can now book sessions on Teviotdale Leisure Centre’s much-loved flume ahead of its reopening from Friday 4th September.

Charity Live Borders, which operates the leisure centre, has released advance booking slots for the attraction, which will operate every weekend following its return.

Installed in 2001 thanks to a community fundraising campaign and support from Hawick’s Common Good Fund, the flume remains the only attraction of its kind in the Scottish Borders and has been enjoyed by generations of local families.

Final upgrade and maintenance work will take place next week to prepare the flume for reopening. During the works the pool will be closed from Monday 24th August to Friday 28th August with swimmers able to use the pool again from Saturday 29th August. Checks, tests and training will then take place before the flume welcomes customers on Friday 4th September.

Colin Aitken, Area Operations Manager for Live Borders commented: “The flume holds a special place in the memories of many local families, so we’re delighted to be able to bring it back for current and future generations to enjoy.

“We’re committed to creating more opportunities for families to be active, have fun and enjoy our leisure facilities. We look forward to welcoming people back and seeing the flume enjoyed once again.”

The flume will operate in hourly sessions each weekend, with the initial timetable as follows:

Fridays: 6.30pm to 7.30pm
Saturdays: 12 noon to 1pm and 2pm to 3pm
Sundays: 12 noon to 1pm and 2pm to 3pm
