Jim Clark Motorsport Museum reopens after lockdown

The Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns will be the first Live Borders facility to reopen after the easing of the lockdown in Scotland.

The museum has been given the green light to reopen at 10:00 on Saturday 18 July – just over a year after it first opened.

Celebrating the life and career of Jim Clark, Scotland’s first Formula 1 World Champion and one of the greatest racing drivers of all time, the museum showcases his life in the Borders, his incredible career, and his reputation as a gentleman.

New for 2020, is ‘Clark on Canvas’ – an exhibition of artworks of the Jim Clark era of motor racing produced by members of the Guild of Motoring Artists, an international guild dedicated to automotive art. Visitors will be able to admire over 20 different paintings by artists from around the world.

The permanent display includes cars, films, photographs, and Clark’s trophies.

“At Live Borders, we’re beginning to reopen some of our premises in line with the Scottish Government’s route map – and we’re getting off the grid with the reopening of the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum,” said Ewan Jackson, CEO of Live Borders.

“We’re taking a staged approach to the reopening of the museum in order to keep all of our visitors and our staff safe. We want visitors to have a safe and enjoyable visit as with this in mind we have made some changes to the visitor experience, including asking visitors to book tickets in advance and adding a one-way system inside the museum.”

“Both museum staff and Trustees are delighted to welcome people to the museum once again to showcase Jim Clark’s achievements.”

‘Clark on Canvas’ opens at 10:00 on 18 July at the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum, 44 Newtown Street, Duns. Free on-street parking is available. There is wheelchair access throughout the museum, including accessible toilets.
