2000x770 camera club

Near and Far

Photographs from around Scotland, Antarctica, and other interesting locations around the world will feature in this year’s annual exhibition from the Peebles Camera Club. We are very excited that the show will be held at our very own Tweeddale Museum and Gallery in Peebles!

Near and Far features landscape, nature, portrait, and macro photography. There is something to inspire and delight everyone. A slideshow featuring entries from recent club competitions will demonstrate the varied interests within the club.

Phoebe Stewart, one of our Assistant Curators, said, “It’s always a pleasure to welcome Peebles Camera Club back to Tweeddale Museum and Gallery for this wonderful and popular show. The annual exhibition is always well received by locals and visitors alike.”

Alongside the exhibition, we will be hosting three free cultural events:

Open Gardens of Peeblesshire by Kathy Henry is a photo journey around gardens which open for charity through Scotland’s Gardens Scheme (SGS) in Peeblesshire and Tweeddale with photos taken by the volunteer photographer for SGS. The presentation starts at 14.00 on Wednesday 26 June at the Tweeddale Museum and Gallery. Booking required.

On Tuesday 2 July, Peebles Photowalk, led by a member of Peebles Camera Club, offers an opportunity to get tips on composition and share ideas on a walk around Peebles taking photographs along the way. The walk is from 14.30 to 16.00, departing from Tweeddale Museum and Gallery. Booking required. Maximum 12 people.

Peebles Camera Club member, Brian Henry’s presentation Eclipsed in the USA features photographs of the total solar eclipse seen in the United States in 2017, along with images of National Parks and the Dark Sky area of Utah.
