Summer of Creativity Begins in Hawick with Painting in the Park & Family Workshops
Families and art lovers flocked to Hawick Museum on Saturday for the joyful Painting in the Park event, kicking off a season of hands-on creativity across the town. The day was a huge success, with children and adults alike enjoying open-air inspiration, colourful canvases, and a vibrant community atmosphere.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! This summer, Borders Textile Towerhouse is hosting a series of interactive family workshops, each one designed to spark imagination and creativity for all ages:
- Saturday 5th July – Banner Making with Kiki: Join artist Kiki to design and create your own bold banner to take home.
- Saturday 19th July – Upcycling Sewing Workshop: Learn to transform old fabrics into something fabulous. A perfect mix of sustainability and creativity!
- Saturday 26th July – Craft Circuits: Build your very own light-up felt toy—a fun way to explore basic electronics and crafting together.
- Saturday 2nd August – Cyanotype Workshop: Just before school starts, dive into the magic of sunlight printing in this hands-on cyanotype session.
(Spaces limited, booking essential).
Meanwhile, Hawick Museum continues the excitement with its Summer Special Critter Hunt. Work to uncover all nine hidden ladybirds hiding throughout the museum. Families can also enjoy seasonal fancy dress as they explore the exhibits—perfect for sparking young imaginations.
Whether you’re looking to craft, explore, or simply have a fun family day out, Hawick has something for everyone this summer.
