Young athletes supported by Live Borders

Team Borders Athletics have been taking part in the Forth Valley League this season is a new set of vests thanks for support from local charity, Live Borders.

Live Borders representatives recently presented Team Borders with their new vests in time for the this year’s summer season.

Ewan Jackson, Chief Executive Officer for charity Live Borders, said: “Live Borders is delighted to continue to support Team Borders and wish them continued success for the season ahead. Since its inception, Team Borders has provided a fantastic pathway for local athletes to compete as a regional team in track and field, and cross-country, the result of which has been some excellent results on the district and national stage. It’s a perfect fit with our vision for our communities to be healthier, happier and stronger.”

Team Borders was formed to give young athletes from the Borders better access to high-level competition and have won four Division 1 titles in the Forth Valley League where they have competed against teams across central Scotland.

Add to this the continued success over the winter months in the East of Scotland Cross Country league, where the team have won numerous age group titles.

This season, Team Borders currently sits atop of the Fourth Valley League after winning on the weekend in Grangemouth.

Having finished second to Edinburgh in the first Forth Valley League match in May, Team Borders went one better in Match 2 on Saturday at Grangemouth, winning the match by a decent margin with 329.5 event points and going top of Division 1.

Going into the final round in August, Team Borders lead the closely fought contest on 11 league points, with Edinburgh on 10 points and Pitreavie on nine points.

Several athletes who have been part of Team Borders have gone on to further success representing their respective clubs, region and country.
