Pod: A Visual and Sonic Exploration of Seeds in Nature and Imagination
Halliwell’s House Museum and Gallery is inviting visitors to Pod, a brand-new exhibition opening in the Robson Gallery. This unique show takes something we all know ‘seeds’ and reveals just how extraordinary they really are.
Seeds are tiny things with big stories to tell. They represent beginnings, journeys, transformations, and futures. In Pod, five talented artists explore these ideas in their own creative ways, showing how seeds can symbolise growth, fragility, imagination, and sustainability.
The gallery will be transformed into an immersive space filled with sculptural textiles, silver jewellery, sound installations, paintings, and artworks made from natural materials. Visitors will step into a world inspired by the patterns of nature, where art and the environment meet. Some of the works will also be available for purchase, so you can take home a piece of this inspiring experience.
The artists have drawn inspiration from the history of Halliwell’s House, using a wide variety of materials such as metal, straw, sound, canvas, plants, and photography. Each work tells its own story, but together they show how seeds carry memory, creativity, and connection across cultures and time.
Phoebe Stewart, Assistant Curator for Live Borders, explains:
“Pod is an exhibition that encourages us to look closely at the quiet power of seeds, not only in nature, but also in our own creative and cultural lives. It invites reflection on life cycles, imagination, and sustainability, while offering a truly immersive sensory experience.”
To make the exhibition even more special, visitors are invited to a free ‘Meet the Artists’ and Performance event on Saturday 11th October 2025, 2–4pm. This will be a rare chance to hear directly from the artists about their inspiration and process. At 3pm, OOR_Scintilla will perform live, adding an exciting musical layer to the afternoon.
Set within a calming soundscape, Pod is more than an art exhibition, it’s an invitation to slow down, look closer, and rediscover wonder in the smallest of forms.
