Last Chance to Visit Old Gala House Before the 2026 Season Ends

Visitors still have time to explore one of Galashiels’ most historic and captivating landmarks before Old Gala House closes for the 2026 season on Wednesday 30 September.
To mark the end of the season, Old Gala House will host a special End of Season Open Day on Thursday 24 September, offering free access to the house, gardens, museum displays, exhibitions and artisan gift shop.
Located on Scott Street in the heart of Galashiels, the historic house is home to fascinating local heritage collections, contemporary art exhibitions and beautiful gardens, making it a popular destination for residents and visitors alike.
A Day of History, Art and Discovery
Visitors can enjoy:
- Historic Museum Room displays, including the rare painted wooden-panelled ceiling dating from 1635
- Beautiful gardens and grounds
- Contemporary art and community exhibitions
- The Artisan Gift Shop featuring handcrafted gifts from local makers
- Refreshments available between 12 noon and 4pm
- Opportunities to meet exhibiting artists between 12 noon and 4pm
