Jim Clark Motorsport Museum attending The Jackie Stewart Classic Festival of Motoring at Thirlestane Castle

Jim Clark Motorsport Museum are pleased to announce attendance at The Sir Jackie Stewart Classic Festival of Motoring at Thirlestane Castle, Lauder on 18 and 19 June 2022 from 10:00-17:00.

Sir Jackie Stewart OBE was a racing contemporary and close friend of Jim Clark and is Honorary President of the Jim Clark Trust.  There was no one better than the Formula One legend to officially open the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns on 29 August 2019.

We are delighted to be part of this historic event along with our partners The Jim Clark Trust, and supporters The Jim Clark Fan Club. Together we will showcase an incredible range of motorsport displays, memorabilia, merchandise, stories and more to the event.

Visitors to our stand will have the opportunity to learn more about Jim Clark’s amazing life and racing career. Unique souvenirs will be available, as well as special discount code that entitles the holder to a 10% discount off all online ticket prices to the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns – the voucher can be used anytime until 30 September 2022; just ask for a voucher when you visit the stand.

The cars are the stars, and we are excited to reveal that two Lotus cars along with the recently fully restored bright orange Case Tractor will be at the Festival of Motoring.

Jim Clark’s personal Lotus Elan road car will be there, which he used when he lived in Paris over the winter of 1967.  Normally on display at Jim Clark Motorsport Museum for the 2022 visitor season, for this weekend only it will be at Thirlestane for everyone to enjoy.

Alongside Jim’s Elan, visitors can see a Formula Junior Lotus 20, designed and built in the early 1960s and used by the Lotus factory as a development car.

The Case Tractor was a working vehicle used on the Clark family farm at Edington Mains Farm in Duns.

Both the tractor and cars are kindly on loan to the Jim Clark Trust especially for this event.

The Jim Clark Motorsport Museum in Duns remains open to the pubic during the festival weekend, and we encourage anyone visiting the Motoring Festival to plan a trip to the five star attraction for and fantastic drive through Jim’s life and career.

The iconic Lotus 25/R6, raced by Clark in 10 Grand Prix races between 1963 and 1965, including victories in the British, Dutch and Belgian Grand Prix and a Lotus 23B, a model that was first raced with Jim Clark at the wheel in the Nurburgring 1000kms will remain on display for visitors to the Jim Clark Motorsport Museum over the same weekend.

Free for 18 and 19 June only at the museum, visitors can test their racing skills on our challenging racing simulator!

The museum showcases image galleries, film footage, interactive displays, a full range of memorabilia and the extensive trophy collection awarded to Jim Clark.

Jim Clark won the Formula One championship in 1963, becoming the then youngest ever World Champion. He followed it up with victory again in 1965 and in the same year won the prestigious Indianapolis 500 in America. He remains the only driver to have won both the Formula One and Indy 500 titles in the same year.

Clark tragically died at Hockenheim in Germany at the age of just 32, admired for his modesty and humility alongside his remarkable natural ability in all forms of motor racing.

Jim Clark is still considered one of the greatest ever racing drivers and remains to this day one of Scotland’s most admired sporting heroes.
