Live Borders announces investment in Modern Apprenticeships to develop local skills and job opportunities

Local charity Live Borders, the leisure, sport and cultural trust for the Scottish Borders has announced the creation of eight Modern Apprenticeships across seven of its services. A Modern Apprenticeship is a job which lets young people earn a wage and gain an industry-recognised qualification.

Recruitment is challenging across many sectors and Live Borders has created a programme of quality opportunities for young people to develop their skills and support their pathways to future employment.

Ewan Jackson, CEO commented:

“As one of the biggest employers in the region, we want to become an employer of choice in the Borders for school leavers. Our services span a wide range of functions and we have opened up opportunities in services including museums, libraries, business support, marketing, art, finance and sport. The creation of these Modern Apprenticeships helps showcase the charity as an employer to those who may not immediately think of us, or be aware of the broad range of exciting career paths we represent.

“Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for young people to earn while they learn, and we are committed to providing quality experiences, and we hope develop employees for the future.”

All the opportunities are now open for applications from young people aged 16 to 19, and available on the Live Borders jobs page. All candidates will attend an interview with successful candidates starting their new roles in August.

The Modern Apprentice opportunities can be found on the Live Borders Recruitment page.
