Peebles Swimming Pool Closure

Following a fire in the early hours of Sunday 19 June, Peebles Swimming Pool has sustained some damage which will result in a lengthy period of closure.

Structural engineers are due on site to assess the full extent of the structural damage, after which other external contractors will be in to access the damage to the plant and the internal fabric.

Once full assessments have been undertaken we will be able to provide you with a more detailed update.

We appreciate that this closure will greatly impact all of our valued customers, especially the 580 children who are on our Learn 2 Swim programme, our clubs who use the facility to train along with those who find great physical and mental benefits from swimming. To say that our staff are deeply upset is an understatement, especially as they were ready to offer an exciting summer programme of holiday activities.

We are currently in the process of establishing what pool availability we have in our other facilities and what options may be available for moving some activities to alternative venues. We will keep you updated on this over the coming days/weeks.

We will be in touch with all our members in the next few days to update you on suspending memberships, and what options are available – you do not need to do anything, so please be patient as we work our way round everyone.

If anyone has any information that may assist the police in their enquiries to this incident, you can contact the police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 0633 of Sunday, June 19, 2022.

We would like to thank the public for all their messages of support, it has meant a lot to all concerned.
