Youth Arts Showcase 2020
Live Borders Creative Communities brings an evening of entertainment to the Volunteer Hall in Galashiels with a vibrant evening featuring some of the most talented young performance artists from across the region.
Giving young people a professional platform to showcase their talents, the event on Thursday 23 April features a wide range of film, dance, theatre, and musical performances to be enjoyed by all the family.
Becki Hodgson, Activities and Programming Development Officer, Live Borders said:
“This is now our fourth Youth Arts Showcase and the events have grown from strength to strength. We’ve seen past performers move onto further performance and recording opportunities.
“We believe it’s important to offer a platform to young performers in the Scottish Borders as young people in rural areas don’t always have this type of opportunity.
“As a charity, Live Borders recognises the importance of breaking down barriers that can cause social isolation. We try to enable young people to become healthier, happier, and stronger and we believe our showcase events do just that by offering young performers the opportunity to build their confidence by performing in a professional setting.”
Eve Robertson, Live Borders Modern Apprentice in Performing Arts and performer at the showcases said:
“I’ve gained a great deal of experience from coordinating and supporting the production of the last two showcases and I felt extremely privileged to perform alongside such talent. It has built my confidence and led me to feel able to perform in other professional settings.”
Some performance slots are still available for young performers and applications are welcome from dancers, actors, musicians, film-makers, or other performers. For more information, CLICK HERE. Deadline for applications is Monday 30 March.
