Bookbug in Peebles

Live Borders Libraries Peebles Bookbug session is changing days!

Wednesday 29th April and Wednesday 6th May will go ahead as usual but from 14th May 2026, Bookbug sessions will be on Thursdays at the Burgh Hall, Peebles.

Access to the Burgh Hall at The Chambers Institution will be 10-10:15am  with Bookbug sessions starting at 10:15 and finishing at 10:45am.

This change is necessary during the temporary decant of Peebles library and it also reflects the new organisational restructure of Peebles Library, Museum and Gallery staffing.

We are always aiming to improve our services, and we hope the change will enable families to spend more time together after Bookbug, with additional free activities for under-5s from 1015am until lunchtime on Thursdays provided from 14th May onwards in the Burgh Hall, Peebles.

All the Library/Museum team are looking forward to welcoming our Bookbug community and families to the new fun-filled Thursday morning activities programme.

Join us for our fun Bookbug sessions at Peebles Library which will be hosted by a member of the Live Borders Library Team.

Free, friendly, fun sessions of songs, rhymes and stories for babies, toddlers, pre-schooler and their families and carers. Each session lasts around 30 minutes and has been designed to support Children’s development while having fun. They take place in a very relaxed environment and are a great opportunity to spend some quality time with your little one, and meet other families.

Bookbug is suitable for children aged 0-5 accompanied with parents/carers. At the moment there is no need to book, just turn up at the time below and enjoy!

If for any reason Bookbug is taking a break we will put it on this page so please check back regularly.

Rhymes and songs help your baby’s language skills and are great building blocks for your baby’s future learning. Sharing time singing with your child is a fantastic way to have fun together. And it’s a great place to meet other families. Come along and join in the fun!

Sharing books, songs and rhymes for a few minutes a day will:

  • Develop language skills
  • Allow time for cuddling and bonding
  • Help families to relax
  • Boost children’s confidence
  • Encourage drawing and writing
  • Provide a strong start in life
