Hawick Rugby Football Club 150 Exhibition

Hawick Rugby Football Club 150 Exhibition

Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Hawick Rugby Football Club, this exhibition tells the story of a group of young men who, in 1873, formed a rugby club that went on to become one of the most consistently successful in the world. In the process, and perhaps more importantly, they created an institution that continues to play an enormous role in the town’s community life, heritage and culture.

Enjoy a nostalgic and perhaps emotional wander through the displays where you can share in the pride of the Greens’ success on the pitch and wonder how such a small town could have produced so many world-class players and international caps.

Step into a re-creation of the changing room under the stand and experience the passion and commitment shown by all.

Take a moment to enjoy our tribute to the many volunteers in our Great Greens and Terrific Teries display and be sure to check out the achievements of Hawick’s international referees.

Visit the War Room to pay your respects to the scores of Hawick club men who made the ultimate sacrifice in two World Wars. Before you go, don’t forget to cast your vote for your favourite player from the past 150 years.

This exhibition is a partnership between Hawick Rugby Football Club, The Bill McLaren Foundation and Live Borders with support from SSE Renewables, MOI Global, Scottish Rugby and Scottish Borders Council.

The Hawick RFC 150 Exhibition – It’s awesome.

This exhibition runs alongside the Bill McLaren Centenary Exhibition which continues to tell the story of Hawick’s own Voice of Rugby through reconstructions, object displays, film footage and the very popular interactive commentary booth.
