Walking for Wellbeing
Low intensity exercise, such as walking, carries many health benefits including reducing weight, strengthening bones and improving sleep. Increased blood flow from exercising also improves circulation, breathing, and can help to keep the brain healthy, reducing the risk of some forms of dementia.
Exercising in the outdoors carries many additional benefits such as improved mental well-being, increased self-esteem and reduced stress compared to exercising indoors.
Our walking groups welcome those with all levels of fitness, they are free and provide a great way to get out of the house, come and chat with like-minded individuals while you exercise.
Walk and talk – Come and explore your local area while you exercise and socialise. Our Health walks are led by our fantastic qualified walk leaders who will tailor the routes and pace of the walks to suit you, and there will be an opportunity to sit for tea and coffee afterwards too.

Walking Book Group
Walk, talk and read – meet each month at one of our libraries to discuss the book of choice for that month, feel free to bring a flask and snack, then get out and about in the local area for some fresh air and exercise led by a volunteer. Feel the added benefits of engaging in creative cultural activities and physical activity.
These sessions are free with the books being lent out by the Library, and last about 90 minutes in total.
