Celebrating the new studio at Tweedbank Sports Complex
We are continuing our investment in new sporting facilities for the region with the opening of a second phase of development at Tweedbank Sports Complex.
Representing an £80,000 investment, the new development has been jointly financed by Borders Sport and Leisure and sportscotland and includes an exercise studio, Power Plate and personal training rooms plus the installation of flood lighting for the athletics track.
It complements the initial £300,000 first phase of development at Tweedbank that was completed last year and saw the construction of a devoted sports meeting hub and the redevelopment of the Complex’s athletics track.
To mark the opening we invited local people to participate in an evening family fun session on May 28th that included family races, complementing the Indoor Bowling Session held as part of the Tweedbank Fair.
Ewan Jackson, Chief Executive of Borders Sport and Leisure said: “The second phase of development at Tweedbank opens up a host of new sporting and exercise opportunities for the local community. We are focusing on offering low impact classes like Pilates, yoga, Tai Chi and Steadi for adults and have great fun Tumble Time sessions for pre-school children too. There’s also the opportunity to improve strength and conditioning using the latest Power Plate machines and training rooms. The new floodlighting will also make the athletics track usable all year-round for individuals and groups. The first phase of development is already proving its value as a community resource and we hope that these new opportunities will be equally appealing and provide enjoyable ways for local people of all ages to participate in sport and activity.”
