Spring Has Sprung!

There has never been a better reason to come and visit the Heart of Hawick on Saturday 21 May.

To celebrate spring, Live Borders brings you a host of activities from 10:00-16:00 to enjoy across the Live Borders attractions in the centre of the Hawick.

It is a great day of activities for families, craft lovers, art and live music enthusiasts, with cartoons for kids and books galore!

Craft Fair at Borders Textile Towerhouse

At Borders Textile Towerhouse there will be a wide selection of handcrafted gifts on sale at the ‘Spring Makers Market Craft Fair’.

This free event supports crafters working in Scotland by giving them the opportunity to display and sell their quality handmade goods while allowing customers to buy distinctive items.  These include local food products, pottery, glass, leatherwork, textiles, original art, prints and environmentally responsible products. Why not treat yourself or come along for some gift ideas.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet local artist Anne White whose exhibition ‘Voices of the Sea: A tour in paintings of some of Scotland’s beautiful west coast and islands’, is currently showing at Border Textile Towerhouse.  Her vibrant and atmospheric paintings in acrylic and oil take the visitor on a journey through stunning locations.  This is an opportunity to see her at work and hear her talk about the different mediums and textures which she uses.  Her original paintings, prints and cards are on sale.

There is also a new exhibition on the Catwalk looking at Hawick firm Scott & Charters, which has been producing quality knitwear since 1955.

The Big Library Book Sale at the Heritage Hub

The Heritage Hub  will play host to ‘The Big Library Booksale – Roll up, roll up Read All About It!’ There will be a fantastic range of fiction, non-fiction, kids books and DVDs on sale with plenty bargains to be had with everything 3 items for £1!
